While looking through the vault I came across this Scythian gold plaque from Siberia. I could not help but notice the similarities to the work of Bill Reid. At all of the joints there are eyes. It is similar to the technique utilized by Reid on this piece. The piece is titled Haida-Dogfish. I had to wonder what the connection between the two images was. I decided to dig a little deeper and I came across a blogpost about museums of the Northwest Coast: http://curatorandcollector.com/?p=1268. These are called joint marks. I thought back to my anthropological training and remembered that the anthropologist Carl Schuster had documented such marks in his study of cultures all over the world. I took this information back to my office to mull over. As soon as I entered my office, the phone rang.
"Hello, office of Dr. Frank Howard. How can I be of assistance?"
A faint voice on the other end of the line stated, "You are on the right track. One word recursion" *CLICK*
I stood in front of my desk a little creeped out but sat down and began to search through the data.
